Hi Geniuses!

It's super hot outside here in NYC today. So we came with some exciting content series for EVERYONE who wants a glowy, healthy skin (DRUMROLLS!!!): Summer Series!

We will be posting every week on Tuesdays for skincare that's specifically summer-weather tailored. Always remember geniuses -- your skin is very sensitive to different environments (temperature, humidity etc). So today, we're going to talk about how to choose the right sunscreen and answer commonly asked questions regarding sunscreen.

Remember, there are two types of UV rays: UVA and UVB. Both UV rays cause skin damage, and when it exacerbates, it can lead to skin cancer.

Types of Sunscreen

CHEMICAL SUNSCREEN

They contain active ingredients in chemical sunscreens that absorb UV rays as they hit the skin.

PHYSICAL SUNSCREEN

These have ingredients (commonly zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) to physically reflect sunlight.

HYBRID SUNSCREEN means it's mixed between chemical and physical sunscreen.

Geniuses -- make sure you use sunscreen that's above SPF 30 in order to block both UV rays!

Now... here is how to apply sunscreen properly:

  1. Apply at least every 2-3 hours for it to function properly.

  2. Waterproof sunscreen is false; make sure you reapply if you went into water.

  3. Apply at least the amount of a quarter coin. Too little sunscreen does nothing to blocking the sun.

We will come back with what kind of ingredients to look for in sunscreen! Stay tuned, and put on sunscreen everyday on a daily basis become Skingeniuses! XOXO
